WINTER
EARLY MORNING SNOWSHOE HIKE (weather permitting)
LIFE DRAWING- This class is held indoors, takes place after breakfast and uses a live, nude model. We provide easels, drawing boards, paper, charcoal, pencils, erasers, cardboard drawing tube (to hold completed drawings), aprons and all supplies needed to participate.
CLAY SCULPTURE- Warm and toasty by the fire, artists will work with earthen clay to model shapes based on drawings from the Life Drawing sessions.
LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY- Bundled in winter wear, artists will go outdoors to photograph the stark beauty of winter in the forest with some instruction taking place inside by the fire. Please be sure to bring your digital camera. There will be no printing or working with the computer to correct a bad image after it has been taken. The focus of this class is to learn to take a good image that will not need to be retouched or manipulated. There will be a slide show of these photographs presented at the end of the retreat.
All levels of art skills will be welcomed.
Beginners will receive instruction in art fundamentals, intermediate level artists will build upon those skills already honed as well as develop new skills and advanced artists can have an opportunity to brush up on technique, enhance skills, work with a live model and have the beauty of nature to draw and paint from.
